The show

Good talk, kept honest.

Static Bloom is an independent show about how work really gets made — recorded in small rooms, edited lightly, and released every other Tuesday.

No scripts. No stunts.

Each episode starts with one genuine question and follows it wherever it goes. Guests are makers, menders and mid-career wanderers — people with something unfinished to talk about.

We keep the tangents, the pauses and the second thoughts. What gets cut is noise, throat-clearing and anything that sounds like a slogan.

Hosted by Mara Ellison.

Mara spent a decade making exhibitions, magazines and messes before picking up a microphone. She asks the questions she wishes someone had asked her — and lets the silence do its work.

How an episode is built.

01

One question

Every episode begins with a single question worth an hour — never a topic, never a pitch.

02

One conversation

Recorded in one sitting, in person where possible. Interruptions stay in when they earn it.

03

One page of notes

Each episode ships with show notes: key moments, takeaways and things to read next.

One last question.

Pick the one that has been nagging you, then start with the newest episode.
